I wrote an essay about my dad for school. My overall grade for this essay was a 95% A.
On April 27th, 1993, My dad became my hero. He has lived with chronic pain for years, and he has never let it affect him from coming to one of my volleyball games or dance recitals. He is the strongest person I have ever met. He has had many ups and downs, but it has made him the best dad I could ask for. Three reasons why he is my hero are he gives me good advice, he supports me, and he shows great strength.
One reason why my dad is my hero would be that he gives me good advice. I can ask him almost anything, and he knows what decision I should make. If I talk to him about a problem with a friend, he will tell me how to fix it. He not only gives me good advice, but he has a chronic pain group every other Tuesday where he helps several more people. He juggles so many other people's problems and still cooks dinner so we can all sit down as a family, and that has always been important to me. At this time, I can open up and tell my dad how I am doing and how school, friends, and any other problems going on. I feel as though I can talk to my dad about anything, and he always has something positive to say that will help me in the long run.
Another reason my dad is my hero would be that he supports me. I am a girl who likes to change activities and try new hobbies, and not once has he not supported me. He has always told me that he would back me up on whatever I wanted to do, as long as it is mature and positive. He always asks me if I am positive about the decision and if I have sat down and really thought about it. If it is a little change, he may answer right then, but if it is something that could affect me maybe later down the road, it may take a couple days to get an answer. He wants what is best for me and if that means no, then he will not allow it. His decisions have always played an important role, because it will help me go on the right path as I grow up.
The most important reason why my dad is my hero would be that he shows great strength. He has lived with chronic pain for 26 years. There are times where I just know he must be in excruciating pain, and he will push through the pain. He has pain everywhere, and if I were him, I would be lying in bed, but not him, he will mow the lawn or drive me where ever I need to go. That makes him my inspiration and hero. Sometimes, it is so mind boggling how he could be in so much pain and not even act like he is hurting. He may not be able to lift 200 pounds on his own, but he will always be the strongest person I have ever met.
Giving me good advice, supporting me, and showing great strength make my dad a hero and inspiration to not only me, but many others. He has struggled through so much and that is why I think he can talk to anyone and give them advice. He has been the best dad I could ask for. I hope that when I have children, I can give to them what my dad has given to me.
